  • VILLÆRA II (SOLERA CUVÉE WHITE)

June 27, 2026

Philipp Presents:

VILLÆRA II (SOLERA CUVÉE WHITE)

With VILLÆRA II, VILLA TOLNAY continues the story of its pioneering Solera cuvée — with greater focus, depth, and maturity. What began as a bold idea with VILLÆRA I has, with this second edition, evolved into a distinctive philosophy of winemaking: a white wine that transcends vintage boundaries and interprets time in its own unmistakable way.

Six vintages — one wine

VILLÆRA II unites six consecutive vintages — 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 — into a single, seamless expression. With each release, the complexity of the blend grows: more layers, more history, more depth. Furmint, Welschriesling, and Riesling once again form the foundation — three grape varieties deeply rooted in Pannonian wine tradition that combine to create a profile of exceptional complexity.

  • Furmint contributes saline minerality and structural tension,
  • Welschriesling lends individuality and backbone,
  • Riesling imparts finesse, fragrance, and radiant brightness.

The Method: Craftsmanship Meets Innovation

Each base wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation and is subsequently aged for 9 to 12 months in large wooden casks crafted by Franz Stockinger — allowing ample time to develop character, complexity, and gentle micro-oxidation. After the vintages are carefully blended, the wines are transferred to hermetically sealed stainless steel tanks. This is where the heart of our interpretation of the Solera principle lies: completely shielded from oxygen, the wine continues to mature — yet it ages with almost imperceptible slowness. Fresh and vibrant, yet imbued with years of depth.

The result is a wine possessing both inner serenity and tension — immediately accessible, without sacrificing aging potential.

Positioning & Gastronomy

VILLÆRA II positions itself alongside the TENGER Cuvée as a premium selection from VILLA TOLNAY — a wine destined for fine dining, discerning retailers, and the cellars of knowledgeable collectors. Its versatility at the table is remarkable: whether paired with seafood, white meat, aged cheeses, or Asian-inspired cuisine, VILLÆRA II delivers elegance and precision.

The inaugural VILLÆRA I was enthusiastically received by the three-Michelin-starred restaurants Amador and Steirereck in Vienna; VILLÆRA II builds seamlessly upon that success.

Production & Availability

A total of 8,100 bottles (0.75 l) and 300 magnums (1.5 l) were bottled. Due to the limited production, we recommend reserving early.

Name & Label

The name VILLÆRA — derived from *villa* and *æra* (Latin for "era") — alludes to the timeless nature of this wine. The Roman numeral II on the label marks the second edition of an ongoing series that grows in complexity with each release. The triangular symbolism remains: a graphic expression of patience, craftsmanship, and time — modeled on the Solera pyramid, progressing from young to aged.
