Hungary’s Most Beautiful Vineyard 2025: Badacsony Wineries Celebrate Top Awards

Budapest/Badacsony, August 25, 2025 – The professional magazine Bor és Piac announced the winners of the “Hungary’s Most Beautiful Vineyard 2025” competition at the MATE (Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences) Budai Campus.

At this year’s event, held for the fourteenth time, two wineries from the Badacsony wine region achieved outstanding results:

  • Váli Birtok won 1st place in the Small Estate category,
  • Villa Tolnay Borház shared 2nd place in the Medium Estate category with Etyeki Kúria.

The award ceremony opened with greetings from Zsófia Bozzai, Editor-in-Chief of Bor és Piac, and Dr. Zsombor Boromisza, Deputy Director General of the MATE Budai Campus.
The keynote speech was delivered by the competition’s patron, Dr. István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture, who emphasized the symbolic power of the vine and wine as a link between past, present, and future.

First launched in 2012, the competition is organized annually by Bor és Piac. As in previous years, the estates nominated by readers were evaluated by a professional jury made up of editorial staff, representatives of the previous year’s winners, and professors and emeritus professors from MATE’s viticulture and oenology departments. After on-site visits during the summer, the jury scored the estates, and the final results were determined.

Awards were given in four categories: Small Estates (up to 10 ha), Medium Estates (11–50 ha), Large Estates (over 50 ha), and an International category.

Winners’ Statements

Péter Váli, owner and winemaker of Váli Birtok, expressed his gratitude:

“Winning first place is a great honor and a beautiful gift in the year of our 25th anniversary. This recognition shows that all the work, love, and passion we have put into the estate resonates with others as well. We are deeply thankful to everyone who supported us and voted for us.”

László Nagy, estate manager and cellar-master at Villa Tolnay, said:

“Just reaching the finals in the Medium Estate category was already a joy. Every good result gives the whole team fresh energy and validates the values we’ve been building on since the beginning. It was a great honor to host the jury at our estate and hear their enthusiasm."
