Falstaff WEIN Guide 2026/27 – Villa Tolnay is the only Hungarian winery to receive the three-star award.
We are delighted to receive an award that makes us particularly proud: in the "Falstaff Wein Guide 2026/27", Villa Tolnay has retained its three-star rating — making it the only winery in all of Hungary to achieve this distinction in the current edition.
A look at the top tier of the guide reveals the company we keep. St. Andrea from Eger leads the field as the country’s only five-star winery. The "Moric & Hidden Treasures" project — of which VILLA TOLNAY is a part — was awarded four stars, while Etyeki Kúria from Etyek received two. No other Hungarian wineries received awards in this edition — a ranking that highlights just how exclusive the top echelon of Hungarian winemaking truly is.
"We are proud, happy, and incredibly motivated to have been awarded three stars by the Falstaff Wein Guide 2026/27. The ratings given to our wines serve as further validation of our strategy, our philosophy, and our daily work. We view this award as a foundation for our continued development in the future."
What pleases us at least as much as the stars themselves is the performance of our wines across the entire range. Taster Peter Moser awarded 92 points or more to every single wine we submitted — right down to our entry-level wines. This consistency across our entire portfolio is, for us, the true validation of our work in the vineyard on Mount Csobánc and in the cellar.

An overview of the rated wines:
- Csobáncz Cabernet Franc unfiltered ***, 2022 – 94 points (Cabernet Franc)
- Furmint Riesling MT Extra Brut, 2021 – 93 points (Furmint, Riesling) – our sparkling wine
- Tenger Fehér Cuvée **, 2025 – 93 points (Chardonnay, Riesling, Welschriesling, Furmint)
- Névtelen Vörös Cuvée ** unfiltered, 2024 – 93 points (Cabernet Franc, Merlot)
- Rajnai Rizling Csobáncz *, 2025 – 92 points (Riesling)
- Sauvignon Blanc Csobáncz *, 2025 – 92 points (Sauvignon Blanc)
The fact that a Cabernet Franc from the volcanic Csobánc hill leads our lineup with 94 points — and that even our entry-level wines surpass the 92-point mark — reinforces our chosen path: uncompromising work in the vineyard, precise winemaking, and an unwavering belief in the terroir of Csobánc.
We thank everyone who accompanies us on this journey — and invite you to experience the wines for yourself. You can find these award-winning wines in our selection and by visiting us at Csobánc.
