A New Perspective on hungarian wines
"Welcome to VILLA TOLNAY!"
Philipp Oser, owner and head winemaker, and Laszlo Nagy, cellar master and partner, present outstanding wines from the Balaton region.
A vision. A villa. Exceptional wines.
The VILLA TOLNAY winery, nestled on the enchanting northern shore of Lake Balaton, is a true hidden gem. Surrounded by the majestic Csobánc mountain and set within a tranquil nature reserve, it radiates Pannonian beauty at every turn.
Founded in 2004 by Swiss visionary Philipp Oser, the estate was built from the ground up. Today, VILLA TOLNAY cultivates 26 hectares of vineyards, perfectly situated around the villa on the sun-kissed southern slopes of Mount Csobánc.

RIESLING TRADITION ON LAKE BALATON: our unique Furmint
Lake Balaton is not only home to the renowned Pannonian grape varieties but also to a vibrant, long-standing Riesling tradition.
Nestled in the picturesque hills of the northwest, amidst volcanic landscapes and nourished by basalt and sediments from the ancient Pannonian Sea, our Rieslings thrive with a distinctively Pannonian quality. They are marked by remarkable expression and unmistakable character.
If we were to draw a parallel, our Furmint could be seen as the Pannonian counterpart to Riesling. With its vibrant acidity, delicate notes of white blossoms, exceptional aging potential, and its role as a true ambassador of our terroir, it reveals the true and unique soul of our region.
Our Forte: WELSCHRIESLING, CHARDONNAY,
GRĂśNER VELTLINER, PINOT NOIR & CABERNET FRANC
Alongside a timeless wine culture, we also convey the character of an entire region.
White varieties such as Welschriesling, Chardonnay, and Grüner Veltliner — as well as red classics like Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc — embody a winemaking tradition that spans centuries.
Volcanic soils:
the foundation of truly distinctive wines.
For us, it is both a strategic and cultural choice to craft our wines from these extraordinary grape varieties — a natural decision shaped by our terroir.
Our wines captivate with their aromas, delicate fruitiness, and pronounced acidity and minerality — qualities that stem from the volcanic soils and ancient sediments of the Pannonian Sea.
